Hello, this is my first Blog.......until a few months ago, I'd never even heard the term so this is all very new to me. It's still very summery here in Victoria, Australia where I live even though the calender tells us it's now autumn. Last night, this is what we had on the wall of our house, a large huntsman spider - thank goodness it decided not to make it's way indoors or the family would have left in a real hurry. The Commonwealth Games finishes on the weekend but it's been a great time for Melbourne with lots going on in and around the city. As a Scot by birth, it was great to see the Scottish team in their kilts and even better to see them winning so many medals.
After days of exceptionally hot weather up around 38ºC to 40ºC each day and not cooling down much at night, we had a cool change around 5pm today. What a relief. It's to be cooler, in the mid 20s, for the next few days and hopefully we've seen the end of the hot weather and we can give the air conditioning a rest.....after all, it is autumn. As the clouds rolled in, this was the sky from the back of the house - it looked really weird. It would be nice if it would rain, but I'll believe that when I see it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME Not quite my birthday, but yesterday I was given an early treat of high tea at the Skyhigh Restaurant on Mt Dandenong by our oldest daughter and grandsons. It was a beautiful, warm day and the view from the top of the mountain was fairly clear. We could see all the way to Melbourne and beyond to the bay. These are a few photos taken while we were there including the lovely afternoon tea that was served to us with as much tea and coffee as we wanted. We ate so much, we didn't need dinner that evening. It was a really lovely family time.
