HAPPY EASTER

I've got the Easter Eggs and the Hot Cross buns and have a lovely piece of Pork for Sunday's dinner. Today, Good Friday, is a beautiful sunny day here in Melbourne and the shops are all shut for a change. I'd like to wish anyone who happens to come upon my little page here, a very Happy and Holy Easter and hope you can spend time with your family and friends.

SURFERS PARADISE, QUEENSLAND

Just back from a lovely week at Surfers Paradise, Queensland. The weather was brilliant and we managed to see a lot while we were there. We stayed about 2 blocks away from Cavill Mall where all the action is. Along one side is mainly eating places with a huge range of restaurants to choose from. You can get meals for less than $10 and they're more than enough at times. We visited Movie World, our second visit having been there 17 years earlier. I even went on a roller coaster, but not the big one - the little one in the kiddies section but that was more than enough for me as I don't like fast rides and I'm scared of heights. I don't know how I even agreed to go on that ride though there were lots of other adults on it and hardly any children. Met Batman and Robin on our travels through Movie World and enjoyed the Batman 2 ride - but I wasn't game to go on the big Batman ride. HOLIDAY TO ADELAIDE AND GLENELG

On 28th August, 2011 John and I flew to Adelaide where we'd booked into a lovely big hotel overlooking the beach at Glenelg - The Stamford Grand. It was lovely and we were really pleased with our room and the balcony which we hadn't expected to have. We hadn't been to Glenelg for about 27 years and noticed a lot of changes but it still has so much for visitors to enjoy. Each morning, we went down for a buffet breakfast in the Promenade Restaurant - what a feast was laid on every day. We made the most of it, as you do, which meant we were never hungry at lunch time. I can't think of anything they'd forgotten from what was on offer and the service was impeccable. Each and every member of staff we encountered were so helpful and really looked as if they enjoyed their job. The view from our balcony was lovely. The Jetty used to be so much longer with an aquarium and salt water swimming enclosure as part of it but in 1948 there was a freak hurrica...

INCY-WINCY SPIDER

Hello, this is my first Blog.......until a few months ago, I'd never even heard the term so this is all very new to me. It's still very summery here in Victoria, Australia where I live even though the calender tells us it's now autumn. Last night, this is what we had on the wall of our house, a large huntsman spider - thank goodness it decided not to make it's way indoors or the family would have left in a real hurry. The Commonwealth Games finishes on the weekend but it's been a great time for Melbourne with lots going on in and around the city. As a Scot by birth, it was great to see the Scottish team in their kilts and even better to see them winning so many medals.
